How We Evaluate Sales Tools
Transparent, practitioner-tested methodology. We use the same tools we rank — so we know what actually matters.
How We Evaluate
Every tool is evaluated against a library of 12 criteria. For each comparison category, we hand-pick the subset of criteria that are genuinely relevant — not a one-size-fits-all checklist recycled across every page.
Each criterion is rated on a three-point scale: Good, Adequate, or Poor. These ratings are aggregated into a composite score (0–10) shown on each page. Every rating includes a plain-English justification so you can read the reasoning, not just the number.
| Criterion | What We Look At |
|---|---|
| Channel Support | Which outreach channels the tool natively supports (email, LinkedIn, phone, SMS, etc.) |
| Pricing Model | Whether pricing is per-seat, usage-based, freemium, or custom — and how predictable cost scales. |
| CRM Integrations | Native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, and other common CRMs. |
| Sequence Builder | Quality and flexibility of the sequence/cadence builder for multi-step campaigns. |
| Personalization | Support for dynamic variables, AI personalization, and custom spintax. |
| Data Enrichment | Built-in prospecting, lead data, and contact enrichment capabilities. |
| Analytics | Depth of reporting — open rates, reply rates, step-level breakdown, A/B testing. |
| Email Deliverability | Warm-up tools, inbox placement features, and reputation management. |
| LinkedIn Safety | Daily action limits, cloud-based vs. extension-based, detection risk mitigation. |
| GDPR / Compliance | Data privacy controls, opt-out handling, and compliance documentation. |
| Free Trial | Whether a risk-free trial is available and how generous the access window is. |
| Support Quality | Onboarding support, documentation depth, and response time on help channels. |
Practitioner-Tested
Our evaluations are grounded in hands-on use. We've personally run outreach campaigns using the tools we rank — which means we can spot the difference between a polished marketing page and a tool that actually works in production. When we can't test a feature directly, we rely on verified user reviews, official documentation, and structured expert interviews.
How Often We Update
Sales tools ship product updates constantly. Pricing changes, new features drop, and integrations appear or disappear. Stale comparison data is worse than no data — it pushes buyers toward the wrong choice.
Quarterly Full Refresh
Every tool in every category is fully re-evaluated at least once per quarter. Pricing, features, and scoring are updated end-to-end.
Event-Triggered Updates
Major product launches, pricing changes, or user-flagged errors trigger an immediate re-evaluation of the affected tool.
Verified Dates Shown
Every page shows a 'Last updated' date. Pricing context shows the verification date inline so you always know how fresh the data is.
How We Make Money
Current Status: No Affiliate Revenue
We currently earn zero commission from any tool vendor. Every outbound link goes to the tool's official website with no affiliate tracking. We have no financial relationship with any company listed on this site.
Future Plans: Transparent Affiliate Disclosure
We plan to apply for affiliate programs with some of the tools we cover. When we do, we will:
- Label every affiliate link clearly as "sponsored"
- Disclose the relationship on the relevant tool and category pages
- Never change a tool's ranking or rating based on whether we earn a commission
- Maintain the same scoring methodology regardless of commercial relationships
Rankings are determined solely by our evaluation criteria. A tool that pays us a commission gets the same score it would without the commission. If that policy ever changes, we'll say so plainly on this page.
